Award-Winning Digital Initiative

We continue to innovate and lead in the provision of digital excellence, empowering and preparing our pupils for the world of work. We use technology in the classroom to enhance learning and teaching and deliver an inclusive and accessible curriculum. The technology enables our teachers to deliver enriching learning activities through a collaborative practice-based process. These activities enable students to develop the 21st century skills they need for life and work in a globally connected world.
Pupils in Year 8 are equipped with their own digital device, a protective case and a range of educational apps. Pupils in Years 13 and 14 also have the option of bringing their own device (tablet or laptop) to school to enhance their studies and independent learning.

Digital Excellence

Having introduced this initiative over 13 years ago, digital learning is now part of the fabric of everyday school life at the College. In March 2023, St. Colman’s College was awarded the Capita NI Schools ICT Excellence award in the Post-Primary category. We then followed this up in 2024, with a highly commended award in the category of leadership of teacher professional learning. Concurrently, we are partnering with Microsoft to develop our digital education provision through their Showcase School’s Programme.

Digital Safety

We recognise the importance of educating our pupils about digital safety and the potential pitfalls surrounding its misuse.
